Purpose of the course:
This course is designed for those who want to develop their practical skills in and knowledge of the risk assessment process so that they can more effectively conduct Risk assessments, write Safe working procedures, and how conduct Planned task observations in the workplace.  


SAQA unit standard aligned:
Unit standard 120330 Conduct a continuous risk assessment in a workplace NQF Level 3 worth 4 credits.

Unit standard 120337 Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to the preparation, conducting, recording, and follow-up actions of a planned task observation in a working place  NQF level 3 worth 2 credits.  

Course structure:
Module 1
The process of a continuous risk assessment
Relevant documentation required
Hazards and risks likely to be encountered the importance of conducting continuous risk assessment (teamwork and avoiding conflict)
The physical and environmental conditions during the assessment
Persons, tools, and materials required to conduct the assessment
Consequences for not conforming to legal and specified requirements
Correctly identify hazards and hazardous tasks
The process of systematically identifying hazards
Complete relevant documentation
Implement remedial action; Follow-up actions
Consequences for non-complianceWhat and why Safe working procedures and planned task observations
Identify hazards, hazard task, component risk in a hazard, hazard task – process and documentation

This course is aimed at all persons inclusive of health and safety representatives and management required to identify hazards and risks at the workplace.
